Iconic movies are not always remembered for their plots and actors, but also by their set design. If you’re anything like me, the set design captures your attention just as much as the charismatic stars featured in them.
Let’s take a look at some of my favorite Romantic Comedies and the sets that make them so memorable!
It’s Complicated (2009) – Jane Adler’s Home in Santa Barbara
The Story: When attending their son’s college graduation, a couple reignite the spark in their relationship…but the complicated fact is they’re divorced and he’s remarried.
The Style: Southern California Mediterranean.
You’ve Got Mail (1998) – Kathleen’s NY Brownstone
The Story: Two business rivals Kathleen Kelley (Meg Ryan) and Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) hate each other at the office but fall in love over the internet.
The Style: Feminine shabby chic.
Something’s Gotta Give (2003) – Erica’s House in the Hamptons
The Story: Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) ,a swinger on the cusp of being a senior citizen with a taste for young women falls in love with the accomplished-closer to his age Erica Barry (Diane Keaton).

Sex and the City (2008) – Carrie’s NY Apartment
The Story: Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), a New York writer on sex and love is finally getting married to her Mr. Big. But her three best girlfriends must console her after one of them inadvertently leads Mr. Big to jilt her.

Sleepless in Seattle (1993) – Sam’s Seattle Boathouse

The Proposal (2009) – Andrew’s Parents Alaskan Lake House
The Story: Margaret Tate, a pushy boss (Sandra Bullock) forces her young assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada.
The Style: Rustic Lake house with Southwestern influences.
